WAN – A rally will be organised in Wan (Van) by The Free Women's Movement (Tevgera Jinên Azad-TJA), Democratic Regions Party (DBP) and Peoples' Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) on 23 August with the slogan “Freedom will win, not isolation”.
Representatives made a statement for the rally to be held. The statement made at DEM Party’s provincial building was attended by many representatives of civil society organisations.
While DBP Artemêt (Edremit) District Co-Chair Mazlum Babur read the statement in Kurdish, DEM Party Reyâ Armuşê (İpekyolu) District Co-Chair Şevin Polat read the statement in Turkish.
Şevin Polat said: “Our people, parties and institutions are ready for whatever it takes to build an honourable peace. Our perspective is the construction of peace and democratic society. In this context, we are trying to weave peace starting from our streets and neighbourhoods” and called all segments of society to the rally.
Party representatives also called for embracing the process that started with the Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Ocalan’s “Call for Peace and Democratic Society” on 27 February.
Politician Gultan Kışanak, DEM Party Co-chair Tuncer Bakırhan and DBP Co-chair Keskin Bayindir will attend the rally to be held on 23 August at Musa Anter Peace Park in Wan. Artists Xecê and Aylin Demir Kaya will perform at the rally.
