ANKARA – The reasoned decision of the Kobani Case, in which former Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) Co-chair Selahattin Demirtaş was sentenced to 42 years in prison and Figen Yüksekdağ to 30 years and 3 months, has been announced.
The reasoned decision of the case, in which 108 politicians were tried and 24 of them were sentenced to imprisonment, consists of 32 thousand pages.
The judgement paved the way for the defendants to appeal the decision to the Court of Appeal.
PRISON SENTENCES TO SOME POLITICIANS
Mêrdîn (Mardin) Metropolitan Municipality dismissed Mayor Ahmet Turk was sentenced to 10 years of prison for “terror organization membership”, Gülten Kışanak and Sebahat Tuncel were sentenced to 12 years in prison for “terror organization membership”.
Former HDP MP Ayla Akat Ata was sentenced to 9 years and 9 months for “terrorist organization membership”, Emine Ayna was sentenced to 10 years for the same charge, and former Party Members Ayşe Yağcı and Aynur Aşan were sentenced to 9 years each.
