The Iran-Israel conflict, which started after Israel's "Rising Lion" operation against Iran's nuclear facilities, entered the third day. Following Tel Aviv's morning attack on 13 June, Iran launched a wave of retaliatory strikes in the night.
ATTACKS CONTINUE
Early on Sunday morning, Israel launched new strikes targeting Iran’s nuclear programme, which Iran responded with missiles, killing at least 8 people on Israeli territory. Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu announced his intention to strike “all the regime’s facilities” as part of an offensive launched on Friday morning to “prevent it from acquiring nuclear weapons”.
The Israel Defence Forces reported that 7 UCAVs were launched towards Israeli territory in the last hour. It was announced that the drones were intercepted by the Israeli Air Force and the Israeli Navy. The Israeli military also announced that they “completed a new wave of attacks” against missile storage and launch infrastructures in western Iran in the last hour. There has been no official statement from Iran yet.
SENIOR OFFICIALS KILLED
In recent days, Israeli attacks have killed Iran's most senior officers, including the head of the Revolutionary Guards, General Hossein Salami, the commander of the Guards' aerospace force, Amirali Hajizadeh, and the chief of the General Staff, General Mohammad Baqeri. Nine scientists working on Iran's nuclear programme were also killed. Iran's UN envoy Amir Saeid Iravani said on Friday that at least 78 people had been killed and more than 320 injured, "the vast majority of them civilians".
TENSIONS RISE
Iran, on the other hand, launched hundreds of ballistic missiles and drones at Israel as part of its counter-attack called "True Promise 3". While explosions occurred in the capital Tel Aviv, 3 people were killed in Bat Yam city. Dozens of people were injured in Bat Yam and Rehovot. It was stated that some of the missiles launched from Iran reached the targets by overcoming Israel's air defence system "Iron Dome" and caused serious explosions. At least 5 people were reportedly killed when missiles hit a residential area near Haifa in northern Israel.
While the mutual attacks between the parties continue, tension in the region is rising every hour.
