AMED - MKG reacted against the attack against journalists in Shengal.

Mezopotamya Women Journalists Association (MKG) reacted to the attack against Free Press workers in Shengal yesterday with a written statement. "This attack poses a serious threat to the freedom of the press and the people's right to receive news," the statement said, adding that 4 people including Çira TV reporter Medya Hasan, Çira FM reporter Mirad Mîrza and car driver Xelef Xidir were wounded in the attack.

The statement said: “Such attacks against Free Press workers are aimed at preventing the public from accessing accurate information. These attacks not only target members of the press, but also usurp the public's right to access information. We wish a speedy recovery to our injured colleagues. We call on all journalists and human rights organizations, especially the International Federation of Journalists (IFJ), to embrace the press workers. As members of the Free Press tradition, we will continue to defend the truth under all circumstances and be the voice of our people."
