Ecocide continues to increase day by day in the centre and districts of Şirnex. Tree felling has been ongoing without interruption for five years in the Cûdî and Gabar mountains and the Besta region. 

 

The felling, carried our by village guards under military supervision, is justified on the grounds of "security". Although there have been some official statements that the tree felling has been stopped, footage taken in Besta shows that it is continuing at full speed. 

 

In the area of Besta where the hot springs are located, village guards carrying out the tree felling under the supervision of soldiers are transporting the felled trees by tractor to the border of the Berwarî district of Sêrt. 

 

It is noteworthy that the tractors loaded with felled trees pass through numerous military checkpoints.
