DİYARBAKIR - Havva Gezen, the mother of zülküf Gezen, who ended his life to protest the isolation on imprisoned PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan, stated she struggles more for the freedom of Kurdish people after her son's loss.

During the hunger strikes initiated by Democratic Society Congress Co-Chair Leyla Güven with the demand of breaking the isolation on PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan and spread to all the prisons as a resistance wave, Zülküf Gezen ended his life on March 17 2019 in Tekirdağ No.2 Type-F Prison. After Zülküf Gezen, protests spread as Uğur Şakar, Ayten Beçet (24), Zehra Sağlamn (23), Medya Çınar (24), Yonca Akıcı, Siraç Yüksek and Mahsum Pamay ended their lives.

HE DID NOT ACCEPT THE INJUSTICE

As the hungers strikes together with the visit of Öcalan on May 26 2019, mother Havva Gezen was recorded in the memories as she went to her son Zülküf's grave and told him "I am here to  give you the good news. Leyla heval (friend) and your friends' demand is accepted".

HE DIDN'T ACCEPT THE UNJUSTICE

On the anniversary of the ending date of the hunger strikes, Havva Gezen evaluated the action of his son as she emphasized how dedicated Zülküf was regarding his struggle so much so that he ended his lfie for the sake of it: "We have learned that he got sick in prison. He had such a mercy in his heart that he wanted to do anything and everything for the struggle. He admired the mothers in Kobanê and always showed them as examples to me".

LET US UNITE FORCES

Mother Havva also emphasized that she began to raise the struggle even more after the loss of her son, before she ended her speech as follows: "Of course, we will pay prices and we will look for our rights. We will never let go of our language, our culture and our struggle. Hunger strikes have begun for the isolation upon Öcalan to end. These protests have been made for Öcalan and the people live freely. All the Kurds with dignity should understand why all that struggle has been given. For the isolation to be broken, we, Kurds, must unite. Let us free the Leadership, let us not leave the cause of the martyrs on the ground, let us join forces. Isn't it such a pity for the youth? Let's do whatever we are supposed to do for the liberation of Öcalan. Let's embrace the prisoners and not forget those who lost their lives for the sake of this cause. Enough is enough".
