AFAD shared the latest data: 21 dead 1030 injured

ANKARA - AFAD stated that 21 people have been killed and 1030 have been injured so far in the 6.8 magnitude earthquake in Sivrice.

In the statement made by the Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency (AFAD), it was noted that after the earthquake in Sivrice, there were 11 shocks of magnitude 4 or more in the region and the total number of aftershocks was 228.
 
In the statement, which emphasized that 4 buildings were demolished in the city center of Elazig, and the search and rescue efforts of AFAD teams continues, it was stated that the search and rescue activities in Elazığ and the neighboring provinces continues and those who stayed in the dormitories were taken to the sports halls.
 
According to the reports, the number of the dead so far is 21 while 1030 people were injured as a result of the earthquake. 
 
A total of 1162 search and rescue personnel and 233 vehicles from UMKE and fire brigade teams of the gendarmerie search and rescue teams, including 39 AFAD provincial directorates, were dispatched to the region. In order to support the work, 15 search and rescue dogs were dispatched to the region as well. Construction machines to be used in case of need are assigned under the coordination of AFAD. No construction equipment will operate in the region except AFAD coordination."
 
According to the statement AFAD Presidency was sent to the region with 144 trucks and 6065 family tents, 400 general purpose tents, 11.532 beds and 18 thousand 720 blankets, the following information was included:"Turkish Red Crescent has dispatched 202 personnel, 29 vehicles, 7 catering vehicles and 4 mobile kitchens and 2 field kitchen kits, 15 thousand 747 blankets, 5656 beds, 1563 heaters, 2500 tents, 193 thousand 420 kilograms of flour and 3200 food parcels to the region. Because of the urgent needs, the teams from shelter, nutrition, energy, communication, damage assessment and psycho-social work groups have started to be dispatched to the region. In this context, 143 personnel and 47 vehicles have been directed to the region. "
