‘A BIG STEP TOWARDS UNITY’
Speaking at the conference, Gülcan Kaçmaz Sayyiğit said that they were holding a historic meeting: "We are here today at the dervish lodge of Ehmedê Xanî. Today, his heart can rest easy, as his descendants are taking an important step toward unity. For a century, the Kurdish people have waged a great struggle against assimilation and extermination policies. Today, Mr. Abdullah Öcalan has published a manifesto offering a model for peace throughout the Middle East. We must strengthen and support this. Today, regardless of our beliefs, we are Kurds and our country is Kurdistan. The Kurdish people must no longer allow divisions among themselves and must unite. Today is the day of the Kurdish people, today is the day to strengthen the Democratic Society."
'KURDS BROKE THE WHEEL OF FATE UNDER THE LEADERSHIP OF WOMEN'
Democratic Unity Initiative Co-Spokesperson Mehmet Kamaç recalled that the Kurdish people have suffered greatly throughout history, saying, "Today, Kurdish enemies still want to destroy them. We must build our future together. We will continue our work until the national congress is convened. The Kurds are one in four parts. With the steps taken in Sulaymaniyah under the leadership of women, the Kurds have broken the wheel of fate once again. Mr. Öcalan's ‘Call for Peace and a Democratic Society,’ which he launched today, must be embraced by every Kurd. Everyone must fight for the unity of the Kurdish people."
After the video presentation, the first session began.
