House raids in Izmir and Istanbul

NEWS CENTER - Many people were detained in house raids in Izmir and Istanbul before May Day.
 
In izmir, police raided several houses simultaneously in the morning hours. Many people including Education and Science Worker's Unieon (Egitim-Sen) Izmir Branch No 5 Chair Savaş Candemir and his wife Gulsen Candemir, university students, trade unionists, Labour Party, SOL Party, Turkey Workers' Party (TIP) and Partizan members were detained. It is stated that the detainees were charged with "terror organisation propaganda".
 
ISTANBUL
 
Members of the May Day 2025 Taksim Organising Committee, who called for Taksm with the press conference they held yesterday in Beyoglu, Istanbul, were also detained. The detainees were taken to the Provincial Security Directorate in Fatih. It is learned that Şahin Başaraner, Chair of Road Transport and Labourers Union (Kataş-Sen) and Yunus Özgür, organising secretary of Construction Workers Union (İnşaat-İş) are among the detainees.
