ISTANBUL- An international delegation of journalists and politicians visited Asrın Law Office. İbrahim Bilmez emphasised the importance of solidarity and said: "Supporting Mr Öcalan means a democratic solution for the Middle East."

An international delegation consisting of journalists, parliamentarians and political party representatives visited Asrın Law Office, the lawyer of PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan. Asrin Law Office lawyers Raziye Öztürk, İbrahim Bilmez, Rezan Sarıca welcomed the delegation.

Speaking at the visit, lawyer İbrahim Bilmez stated that solidarity and the visit of the delegation is important in the process in which Abdullah Öcalan is kept under severe isolation conditions. İbrahim Bilmez stated that Öcalan is an important actor in the solution of the Kurdish issue and that he cannot even have his basic rights in prison. İbrahim Bilmez stated that there are discussions on a new solution process in Turkey and that this creates a perception.

Stating that Abdullah Öcalan had been struggling for peaceful solutions since the 90s before he was brought to İmralı, İbrahim Bilmez said: "The state's approach to the Kurdish issue is a crippled understanding. They say there is no Kurdish issue if there is no armed conflict, but this is wrong. The Kurdish issue is the collective rights and status of the Kurdish people. Mr Öcalan is also struggling for this."

DEMOCRATIC SOLUTION

İbrahim Bilmez continued his speech as follows: "At the point we have reached today, a new development has emerged in Syria. On one side are the Kurds and their supporters who are trying to build the paradigm of Mr Öcalan, and on the other side is ISI, the jihadist system. With Turkey's provocation, dark forces have mobilised. This is a war against the darkness in the name of all humanity, so the Kurds should not be left alone. Supporting Mr Öcalan means a democratic solution for the Middle East, for this we need to fight against isolation. We do not expect anything from the states, our expectation is the solidarity of the peoples in Europe. We think it is important to increase international solidarity."

During the visit, it was pointed out that the CPT's report on the İmralı Prison visit was not announced. In the continuation of the visit, the message was given that it is important to fight against isolation with the work of the international delegation in their own countries.
