ADANA - 31 prisoners in Şakran Women's Closed Prison were sentenced to a one-month communication and visitation ban. Hamit Bilen, the brother of Güler Bilen, one of the prisoners against whom a disciplinary investigation was launched, stated that they are worried that the upcoming release of his sister, who has been imprisoned for 32 years, will be prevented.

The upcoming release of prisoners in Şakran Women's Closed Prison in Aliağa district of Izmir is being delayed by arbitrary reports and disciplinary investigations. On August 12, the investigation launched against 31 prisoners for “singing Kurdish songs, shouting slogans” during a celebration for the liberation of Kobanê on July 19 was concluded. 26 of the 31 prisoners were sentenced to 1 month communication or communication penalty and 5 prisoners were sentenced to 1 month visitor visit penalty each.

The names of the prisoners who were given disciplinary penalties are as follows: “Zuhal Sürücü, Mahsume Şedal, Figen Şahin, Melek Atan, Lemiya Asu, Azime Işık, Esma Başkale, Hasret Süzgün Kolkıran, Kübra Filiz, Ebru Güden, Mehtap Kıyar, Güler Bilen, Aynur Epli, Hediye Öztürk, Aygül Kapçak, Bahar Alkan Yıldız, Rozerin Kalkan, Hayriye Yağbasan, Şükran Özer, Seher Orçu, Fatma Resat Sido, Medine Orhan, Nuran Durak, Esmer Ayas, Gülten Akgün, Sayme Bayar, Makbule Sünger, Dilan Karakoç, Sinem Çelebi, Ebru Yiğit, Berna Çelik. ”

PRISONERS APPEAL SENTENCES

Prisoners objected to the disciplinary penalties. The hearing on the objections will be held on September 18 at Karşıyaka 1st Execution Judgeship. It is stated that the expected release of prisoners Lemiya Asu, Aynur Epli, Rozerin Kalkan, Nuran Durak and Güler Bilen this month is being postponed due to disciplinary proceedings.

32-YEAR PRISONER'S FAMILY WORRIED

Güler Bilen, a 32-year prisoner, was detained in Adana in 1992 when she was 17 years old. Bilen, who was sentenced to life imprisonment by the State Security Court (DGM), suffers from heart valve disease. Bilen's family, who are awaiting her release, are worried that the disciplinary investigation will delay this. Bilen's brother Hamit Bilen reacted to the situation.

Stating that the practice of preventing release has become routine, brother Bilen said that this is a continuation of rights violations that have been going on for years. Bilen said that the Administrative and Observation Boards, which are equipped with unlawful and unlimited authority, arbitrarily postpone the evacuations.

'THEY WANT TO BREAK RESISTANCE OF THE PEOPLE'

Saying that the people should show a common reaction against the unlawfulness, Bilen stated the following: “Imrali isolation continues. Here they want to break the resistance of the Kurdish people collectively. Until today, isolation has been practiced continuously, but they have not succeeded. My sister's release may be postponed for 2 months and her release may be extended to 6 months. The Kurdish people in general have a responsibility here. It is necessary to participate in this struggle collectively. They should never accept such impositions.”
