NO NEWS FOR 8 MONTHS

PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan has been kept in isolation in Imrali High Security Type F Prison since February 15, 1999, when he was handed over to Turkey with an international conspiracy. From 1999 to 2019, family and lawyers' applications for visitation were frequently, blocked on the different grounds. No positive or negative response is given to the applications made afterwards.

It was revealed that Öcalan was banned from being visited by lawyers for 6 months on September 23, 2020, on the grounds of the "Road Map" he prepared in addition to his defense submitted to the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) in 2009. Again, in the applications made by the lawyers, it was revealed that a new disciplinary punishment was given to Öcalan in January 2021.

LAST CONTACT

Öcalan was given the right to speak on phone to his brother for the first time on April 27, 2020. Öcalan spoke to his brother Mehmet Öcalan on the phone again on March 25, 2021, due to the growing public concerns about some posts in the social media. However, Mehmet Öcalan announced that this meeting was interrupted. After the interrupted phone call, no one ever heard from Öcalan or any other prisoners in İmralı.
