AMED - Halise Aksoy, whose son's body was delivered to her in a box by cargo, was sentenced to 6 years and 3 months in prison based on the testifies of confessor Ümit Akbıyık.
Halise Aksoy, whose son Agit İpek's body was delivered to her in a box by cargo, was sentenced to 6 years and 3 months in prison for "being a terrorist organization member" based on the testifies of confessor Ümit Akbıyık. The 7th hearing of the case against Aksoy, who was arrested on 28 April 2023 based on Akbıyık's statements and released afterwards, was held at Diyarbakır 10th Assize Court. Halise Aksoy did not attend the hearing, while her lawyers Zeynep Karayılan and Necat Çiçek were present.
The prosecution presented its final opinion to the court and demanded Halise Aksoy to be sentenced on the charge of "being a terrorist organization member".
Defending against the final opinion, Halise Aksoy's lawyer Zeynep Karayılan stated that they disagreed with the final opinion and noted that there was no concrete evidence in Akbıyık's testifies and therefore his testifies should not be taken as basis. Stating that confessor Akbıyık has lost his credibility in the courts, Zeynep Karayılan demanded the acquittal of her client.
Lawyer Necat Çiçek stated that Akbıyık's testifies cannot be taken as a basis for the verdict and reminded that many people who were tried due to Akbıyık's testifies were acquitted. Çiçek submitted some of these judgements to the court and demanded the acquittal of his client.
The court sentenced Halise Aksoy to 6 years and 3 months for "being a terrorit organization member".
