AMED - Politicians and representatives of non-governmental organisations carrying out the activities for the rally with the slogan "Freedom for Peace" called on the people to be in the field on 8 February in order to protect and enlarge Abdullah Öcalan's solution efforts.
The Democratic Regions Party (DBP) and Peoples' Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) will organise a rally with the slogan "Freedom for Peace" on 8 February at İstasyon Square in Yenişehir district of Amed (Diyarbakır). Calls for the rally, which will be organised to explain PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan's efforts for the solution of the Kurdish issue and to socialise the solution, continue. Politicians and representatives of civil society organisations are going from street to street and house to house to explain the importance of the rally.
DEM Party Şirnex (Şırnak) MP Zeki İrmez, who is one of the names participating in the call for the rally, reminded that PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan had taken steps for peace many times before. Irmez stated that they will increase their struggle for the socialisation of the process in order to turn the talks into a solution and dialogue process and said, "We are now in the fields to organise public meetings and rallies in order to socialise the process. We will organise a 'Freedom for Peace' rally. This rally is important for the development of peace and democracy, and for the Kurdish question to evolve into a democratic ground."
Irmez called on the people of Turkey, especially the Kurdish people, to raise their voices by attending the rallies and meetings.
Stating that they were welcomed with great enthusiasm in the places where they carried out their activities, Irmez underlined that the people were hopeful about the possibility of a possible solution and said, "Mr Öcalan has been carrying out the resistance and struggle with great effort despite the heavy isolation conditions for 26 years and the 12 metre space. We should be in the fields, at the rallies to salute, strengthen and develop this democratic and peaceful solution of the Kurdish issue effort of Mr Öcalan. This is our biggest responsibility."
PEOPLE WILL GIVE THEIR MESSAGE FROM THE RALLY
Stating that they are working day and night in every district, neighbourhood and street of Amed, DEM Party Wan (Van) MP Gülcan Kaçmaz Sayyiğit said, "The people of Amed and all Kurdish people are doing their best to make this peace and freedom happen as soon as possible. Just as the people of Amed have been struggling in these lands for centuries, depending on their own identity, language and culture; on 8 February, they will reveal this demand for peace and freedom from the highest pitch in İstasyon Square and will deliver their message everywhere."
Menice Yeni, Director of the Association for Assistance and Solidarity with the Families of the Disappeared in the Cradle of Civilisations (MEBYA-DER), said that a strong message should be given at the rally. Reminding the rally held in Amed on 13 October 2024, Menice Yeni said that they expect everyone to come to İstasyon Square to embrace peace once again with the same spirit and enthusiasm.
Underlining that the steps to be taken for a solution cannot be unilateral, Peace Mother Şaide Gülden said that steps should be taken for peace. Şaide Gülden said, "A person who says 'I want peace today, I don't want bloodshed' should take steps against this. I hope this rally will lead to good things. A great work has been started both in districts and neighbourhoods for this rally. I hope we will achieve success with this rally that will be enthusiastic."
DEM Party Amed Provincial Co-Chair Gülşen Özer said "We want all our people to come together for peace, tranquility and freedom and convey our message to our rally on 8 February." Gülşen Özer called on everyone to attend the rally.
