İSTANBUL- Women stating that Newroz has another meaning this year, said: " Let's raise high the fire of Newroz. Let's shout out in the streets. We are backing up the will of Leyla Güven. We believe they will succeed."
The hunger strike of Democratic Society Congress (DTK) Co-chair and People's Democratic Party (HDP) Hakkari Deputy Leyla Güven is on its 132nd day with the demand of the removal of the isolation on PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan. Women, stating that Newroz is the resistance festival of the Kurdish and that we all should support Leyla's resistance, said: "We will succeed".
Kumri Çelik who reminded that the Newroz is the festival of resistance, stated that no community showed resistance as much as the Kurdish have. Çelik said: "Our enemy is cruel, doesn't know about humanity. If they did, they would see the people weeping. The Kurdish community resisted in the world to have a say. I salut those who are resisting. I salut Leyla. We are with them to the last drop of our blood. I am bowing down in front of Leyle's unbreakable will. I believe in their success.Their demands will be met."
Türkan Sümbül who stated that women need to form a resistance line from March 8 to Newroz, said: "Newroz is a monumental uprising.We have to claim this uprising coming from our history.We should flare up the fires of Newroz. Öcalan brought in many gains for women. He secured our existance.The demand of the hunger strikers are our demands. We have to resist in order to break this isolation on Öcalan and the oppression on the Kurdish people. I am calling on to the Kurdish community. Let's raise high the fire of Newroz. Let's shout out in the streets. We are backing up the will of Leyla Güven. We believe they will succeed."
