NEWS CENTER – The Movement Leadership announced that guerrilla forces in the Zap area have been relocated to different and appropriate areas.
The Movement Leadership said in a statement that as of 16 November, guerrilla forces in the Zap area that posed a risk of conflict had been moved to different areas. The statement said: “We believe that this new step will serve the solution to the Kurdish question and contribute to peace and democratization in Turkey.”
The statement published in Fırat News Agency (ANF) reads: “In the press conference held on 26 October, attended directly by 25 of our guerrillas who had withdrawn from within Turkey’s borders to the Medya Defense Zones, we stated that we would make certain adjustments to prevent clashes in places along the border where there was a risk of confrontation. Since that date, based on the work carried out by the relevant bodies, we have reached an important conclusion in the Zap area. As of the evening of November 16, our forces in the Zap area that created a risk of clashes have been relocated to different and suitable locations. In its current state, the risk of clashes in this area has been completely eliminated.”
The statement added: “After the withdrawal of our guerrilla forces inside Turkey’s borders that posed a risk of conflict, this withdrawal and adjustment carried out in the Zap area is an important practical contribution to the development and success of the Peace and Democratic Society Process developed by Leader Abdullah Öcalan, and it once again demonstrates our determination toward this process. We believe that this new step will serve the solution to the Kurdish question and contribute to peace and democratization in Turkey. We respectfully present this information to the press and the public, and we greet all those concerned.”
