COLEMÊRG - The forest fire that started yesterday morning in Derya village of Şemzînan (Şemdinli) district of Colemêrg (Hakkari) continues. 

 

Fire brigade teams continue to intervene in the fire in the region. It was stated that the fire threatened residential areas. 

 

Muharrem Tekin, Chair of Hakkari Union of Chambers of Tradesmand and Craftsmen said that an intervening helicopter left the area for 3 hours for refuelling. 

 

"The fire is growing with the effect of the wing. A more effective intervention from the air is necessary. Due to the rugged terrain, fire trucks cannot reach the fire area. It is impossible to extinguish with manpower. Air support must be activated very urgently" he warned.
