SÊRT - Reacting to the will usurpation in Sêrt, "Let's respond to the dirty policies of the government by participating strongly in the rally to be held in Amed on 8 February," says DEM Party MP Kamuran Tanhan.
The protests that started in the city after the appointment of trustees to Sêrt (Siirt) Municipality continue. The people of Sêrt gave the message that they will resist until the trustee usurpation.
Peoples' Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) Mêrdîn (Mardin) MP Kamuran Tanhan stated that the practice of trustee system, which was put into effect by the AKP in 2016, has spread to every part of life and said, "They passed a new law to appoint trustees to companies. They can appoint trustees wherever they want. Instead of ending this lawlessness, they are aggravating it even more. In other words, the state wants to appoint trustees in every part of life."
Stating that the rights of Sêrt came together and won the municipality despite the dirty policies of the government, Tanhan said, "Sêrt has multilingualism, culture and religion. However, the system that imposed monism could not tolerate this and usurped the will. If we tried to explain the usurpation, theft and corruption of the trustees, it would not fit in books. For example, in Mêrdîn, the biggest corruption in the history of the Republic was revealed. It was revealed how the trustees looted and stole the people's money for their cronies. They play with the labour of workers and dismiss them from their jobs. Everything they do is carried out in violation of the law."
Noting that the AKP is in an anti-democracy policy, Tanhan said, "Democracy and AKP cannot go side by side. There is no democracy in a monist understanding. AKP's understanding of democracy is only for itself. AKP and democracy have never come side by side in any process. AKP has always been the enemy of democracy."
Reacting to the introduction of the trustee appointment practice at a time when negotiations on the solution of the Kurdish issue are ongoing, Tanhan said, "The balances in the Middle East are changing. Their sitting at the table is due to the struggle. Therefore, they both talk about the table and attack at the same time. No sincere step has been taken so far. There is no concrete step. Isolation continues."
CALL TO RALLY
Pointing to the silence of European countries towards the appointment of trustees, Tanhan added, "Those who say they are fighting for democracy have been silent on the attacks against the will of the peoples for 3 terms. We will fight and resist against AKP's attacks. The isolation, trustee and many other policies of the AKP will hit the resistance of the people. On 8 February, let's respond to the dirty policies of the government with a strong participation in the 'Freedom for Peace' rally to be held in Amed."
