NEWS CENTRE - Many people, including Co-mayor of Peyas Municipality  Cengiz Dündar, and Chair of MKG Roza Metina, were detained in house raids in many cities.

 

House raids were conducted in many cities including Amed (Diyarbakır), Istanbul, Mêrdîn (Mardin) and Şirnex (Şırnak). In Amed, houses of Co-Mayor of Peyas (Kayapınar) Municipality Cengiz Dündar, Mezopotamya Women Journalists Association (MKG) Chair Roza Metina, journalist Ahmet Sümbül, director Ardin Diren, and teachers who are members of Education and Science Workers' Union (Eğitim-Sen) were raided. It was noted that searches continued during house raids.

 

MÊRDÎN

 

Mehmet Şimdi (40), Mehmet Şimdi (22), Mehmet Nur Şimdi (22), Medine Şimdi (20) and Roni Şimdi (17), who are relatives, were detained in house raids in Artuklu district of Mêrdîn. The detainees were taken to the Provincial Security Directorate. It is learned that the detentions were made due to trustee protests.

 

ŞIRNEX

 

Many people were detained in house raids in Cizîr district of Şirnex.

 

JOURNALISTS DETAINED

 

Journalists Erdoğan Alayumat and Bilge Aksu were also detained in Istanbul.
