AMED - DBP Co-Chair Keskin Bayındır, who visited the Peace Mothers, said: “The isolation must be lifted, Abdullah Öcalan must be free and the Kurdish issue must be solved through democratic means.”
Democratic Regions Party (DBP) Co-Chair Keskin Bayındır visited members of the Peace Mothers Assembly in Rezan (Bağlar) district of Amed (Diyarbakır). DBP Women's Assembly Spokesperson Berivan Bahçeci, DBP provincial co-chair and Rezan district chairpersons, Peoples' Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) Wan MP Gülderen Varlı, and Central Executive Comittee members accompanied Bayındır during his visit. The mothers welcomed Bayındır and the accompanying delegation at the door. During the visit, Bayındır conveyed his condolences to the mothers for the beatings and detentions they suffered for wanting to set up a peace tent in the Silopiya district of Şirnex (Şırnak) and made a short speech.
CELEBRATED THE MOTHERS' RESISTANCE
Celebrating the resistance of mothers in Silopiya, “We know that mothers are resisting not only in Silopiya but in many places. Mothers have been leading this struggle for years. From the parliament to prisons, the resistance of mothers continues. When mothers pioneer a path, they do not stop until they get results. The hunger strikes reached this result in 2019 with the resistance of mothers. No matter how difficult these days are, we must increase our hope and faith. For 10 years, this state had put forward a different policy. Their aim was to extinguish the Kurdish struggle. But they failed” he said and undirlined that the Kurdish struggle has taken a historic stance with mothers, women, youth and all believers, Bayındır emphasized that they will continue to struggle.
'NO CLEAR MIND'
Reminding that Erdoğan and Bahçeli have made some statements in Turkish politics since October 1, Bayındır noted that the statements were not only steps towards the Kurdish issue. Noting that Turkey has reached a deadlock in every aspect, “The struggle of the Kurdish people continues to grow in the Middle East. The Kurdish people have the most organized struggle in the Middle East. This is the reason why Devlet Bahçeli and Erdoğan's tongues have turned even with just rhetoric. We cannot see this as a solution process or a peace process. We are also following the process. In Erdoğan and Bahçeli's speeches, there is no clear mind for the solution of the Kurdish issue. Everyone sets a boundary for themselves. They are all talking within their own borders. What are the demands of the Kurdish people and how will the state change itself in response to these demands? The mother language, the definition of status, the situation in prisons, the isolation of PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan continues in every form” Bayındır said, adding that the attack on the mothers contradicted the statements of Erdoğan and Bahçeli.
'WE GAVE THE BIGGEST ANSWER AT THE RALLY'
Reminding that the state banned the “Freedom” rally in Amed on October 13, “The Kurdish people called for freedom and peace despite all the attacks. The insistence for that rally was very good. Tens of thousands of people who were prevented in many cities showed the way. This stance was important for us” he said.
On October 13th, Bayındır stated that the path to a solution was shown and said the following: “We gave two messages; Liberation of Abdullah Öcalan with lifting the isolation and a democratic solution to the Kurdish issue. This solution can be through constitutional amendments, it can be through parliament, but our message was clear at the rally. We know that something has changed within the state, we must increase our struggle against this. The state is looking for a new path. So far this path has not been drawn for peace and brotherhood, it has remained only in speeches. There has been no solution with speeches. We must respond to this by growing our struggle. There is a great opportunity for freedom if Kurds increase their struggle. They want to extinguish this struggle no matter what. They are trying to reduce this struggle with speeches. No matter what they say, this struggle will continue. Our aim is the growth of resistance, the growth of the struggle.”
Peace Mothers who took the floor afterwards also talked about the violence they suffered in Silopiya and gave the message that the war must end for peace.
