Prisoner who allegedly set himself on fire dies

RIHA - Abdurrahim Yüksel, a judicial prisoner who allegedly set himself on fire in Urfa Type T Prison No 1, lost his life. 
 
Abdurrahim Yüksel, a judicial prisoner who allegedly set himself on fire in Urfa Type T Prison No 1 on July 20, died. Yüksel, who was sentenced to 11 years and 3 months in prison for “attempted murder and tampering with evidence”, was arrested on July 10, 2024 and put into prison. According to the allegations; Yüksel was put in a solitary cell on the grounds that he had a fight with the guards and set his body on fire. 
 
Yüksel, who was seriously wounded, was being treated for two days in the burn unit at Mehmet Akif İnan Training and Research Hospital Additional Service Building. Yüksel lost his life in the morning. Yüksel's body will be taken to his hometown Mêrdîn after the autopsy.
 
It is learned that the prison prosecutor's office started an investigation into the incident.
