NEWS CENTER - The 10th day of the "Great Freedom March" was marked by mothers who welcomed the marchers with olive branches, the symbol of peace.

The "Great Freedom March", which was launched on February 1 from Qers and Wan for the physical freedom of PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan, who is held in "absolute isolation" in Imralı Type F High Security Prison, and the democratic solution to the Kurdish issue, has passed its 10th day. The march, which will end on February 15 in Amara village of Riha, where Abdullah Öcalan was born, created great enthusiasm and hope among the Kurds. The Wan marching group, which reached Mêrdîn after Şirnex, met with the people in Qoser and Dêrîk districts yesterday.

In Artuklu district, the first stop in Mêrdîn, the family of Veysi (Bubo) Taş, who set his body on fire against the isolation on January 12, 2023, was hosted. The family welcomed the Freedom Marchers with Taş's photo. Speaking during the visit, his daughter Havva Taş said: "Freedom will come for all of us."

FREEDOM MARCH IN THE STREETS OF QOSER

The Freedom Marchers, who later moved to Qoser, were welcomed with erbane, drums and zurnas. The song "Berxwedan jiyan e" played during the greeting at Qoser Bus Terminal increased the enthusiasm in the field to the highest level. After the halay dance here, thousands of people who came to welcome them started walking towards the town center. Throughout the march, which started with the anthem "Herne Pêş", slogans such as "Biji berxwedana zindanan (Long live resisance of dungeons)", "Bijî Serok Apo (Long live leader Apo)" and "Youth is Apo's bouncer" echoed in the streets of Qoser. It was also noteworthy that everyone from 7 to 70 participated in the Freedom March on Old Hospital Street. The intense interest of children and young people was one of the factors that increased the enthusiasm.

UĞUR KAYMAZ AND HIS FATHER ARE NOT FORGOTTEN

Freedom Marchers did not forget Uğur Kaymaz and his father, who were murdered together with his father with 13 bullets in front of their home on November 21, 2004, when he was only 12 years old. A commemoration was held on Uğur Kaymaz Boulevard, located on the march route. There was intense public interest in the march, where women added color with their local costumes. Citizens took pictures with their mobile phones from windows and balconies, and on the other hand, they greeted the marchers with victory signs. The message given by Qoser, known for its resistance, was the democratic solution of the Kurdish issue and the opening of the gates of Imralı. People entered the Freedom Square, where the statement was made, chanting "Biji Serok Apo" slogans. Democratic Regions Party (DBP) Co-Chair Keskin Bayındır's words, "We will continue until we achieve victory", were responded to with the slogan "Bê serok jiyan nabe(If there is no leader, there is no life)”

QOSER'S NURO WITH HIS CAMERA ON THE FREEDOM MARCH

Nuro (Nurullah) of Qoser also left his mark on the march with a water bottle he carried as a camera. It was noteworthy that Nuro, who announced the march with hand signals to the shopkeepers, held the water bottle in his hand as a camera while the police stopped the crowd. The fact that Nuro, whom we photographed, raised his camera just in case of an attack, is the summary of police attacks and cruelty in Nuro's memory.

A 'PROMISE TO FIGHT' WAS GIVEN TO THOSE WHO LOST THEIR LIVES

The next stop of the march was the graves of those who lost their lives in the "You cannot darken our sun" protests. The graves of Ferhat Kurtay, one of the Four, who set his body on fire in Amed Prison on May 17, 1982, Mehmet Halit Oral, who set his body on fire in Mereş Prison where PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan was held after his removal from Syria, and a Free Press employee who was murdered during the serhildans in Kurdistan cities in 2006, Ahmet Araç, DEP Mêrdîn Deputy Mehmet Sincar, who was murdered in 1993, and Medya Çınar, who lost her life during the hunger strikes launched against the isolation in İmralı in 2019, were visited and promises were made to fight.

WELCOME WITH OLIVE BRANCHES IN DÊRÎK

The next stop of the Freedom March after Qoser was Dêrîk. Women from Dêrîk welcomed the marchers with their local scarves. Little girl Zilan was among those who welcomed the marchers with olive branches and carnations, symbols of peace. Zilan became the center of attention as she welcomed the Freedom Marchers with olive branches and carnations. Throughout the march from Dörtyol to Dêrîk Square, the enthusiasm and determination of women added color to the march. In the statement made in Dêrîk, the Kurds once again shouted for Abdullah Öcalan's physical freedom. Freedom Marchers, who did not forget the 21 citizens who lost their lives in the truck accident that occurred on August 20, 2022 in the district, made a commemoration at the place where the massacre took place and promised to fight until the perpetrators are tried.

ENTHUSIASM OF YOUTH IN ÊLIH

The Qers branch of the march met with the public yesterday in Amed's Farqîn and Êlih's Hezo (Kozluk) districts. The marchers, who were welcomed with great enthusiasm in Ferqîn, marched throughout the district with never-ending slogans and applause. After the march, Rindêxan, who committed suicide by jumping off the bridge to avoid being captured by soldiers during the Şêx Seid rebellion in 1925, was commemorated with carnations thrown into the water.

Hezo (Kozluk) district of Êlih was one of the centers where the freedom marchers were welcomed in the largest numbers. Young people welcomed the marchers with slogans and banners. During the welcome, a banner with Abdullah Öcalan's words: "Those whose hearts burn with fire and passion for victory can only march with us" was unfurled, as well as banners written "Isolation is a crime against humanity" and "Kozluk salutes the freedom marchers", and the slogans never stopped. Young people, who filled the streets of the district with slogans, were at the forefront of the march.
