WAN- Human rights organizations operating in the Kurdistan region of Iran issued a joint statement calling on the public to join the general strike to be held today to protest the execution of 4 captive Kurd politicians.

Seven human rights organizations operating in the Kurdistan region of Iran launched a general strike today for the 4 captive Kurd politicians executed by the regime. The organizations published a joint statement for protest and called on the public to join the action. In the published statement, it is emphasized that: “Brute force is used to oppress the people of Kurdistan and suppress their freedom. Unfortunately, this morning four Kurd political prisoners were executed and the death sentences of six other Kurd political and religious prisoners were upheld in the Supreme Court. This has increased concerns about possible executions in the coming days."

‘CALL FOR SUPPORT'

The statement continued: “As a collective of activists and human rights organizations, we call on all segments of Kurdistan society to express their protest against this inhumane rights process by participating in a nationwide strike on Tuesday this week.
The purpose of this strike extends beyond opposing executions; It aims to draw national and international attention to the dire human rights situation in Kurdistan and advocate for the abolition of the death penalty. We invite all political parties, civil organizations, human rights institutions in Kurdistan and conscientious individuals around the world to support this strike and declaration. Let us all be the voice of the people of Kurdistan in the ongoing struggle.”
