ISTANBUL – The case of Yusuf Ziya Gümüşel, the founder of the Hiranur Foundation, who married his 6-year-old daughter and exposed her to rape for years has been postponed to July 17.

The 4th hearing of the case concerning the "marriage" and rape of his 6-year-old daughter, H.K.G., by Yusuf Ziya Gümüşel, the founder of the Hiranur Foundation affiliated to the İsmailağa Community, with his "disciple" Kadir Willed, will hold in the Kartal Anadolu Courthouse in Istanbul, 2nd Heavy Penalty in court. While a decision was not reached in the case where Gümüşel and Wishli were detained and their mother Fatima Gümüşel was pending trial, the court adjourned the hearing to July 17.

Before the hearing, We Will Stop Femicide Platform (KCDP) made a statement in front of the courthouse. Making the statement on behalf of women, Ömür Kargın said that they say for H.G.K.: 'Being a child can be changed from person to person'. They use the discourse means to encourage child abuse. Women and girls are not commodities to be bought and sold. We are against it. We stand with women and children on this path. No one should feel alone.

'CHILDREN ARE NOT SAFE'

The Labor Party (EMEP) Antep MP Sevda Karaca pointed out the lawsuit and said: “The marriage of a 6-year-old child by religious sects shows that children are not safe in this country. These sects have become threatening women and children with the opportunities they have seized. The new Parliament was formed today. AKP cooperated with all these dark forces. We know that this Parliament is a Parliament that wants to launder child abuse. H.G.K. is not alone.”
