DİYARBAKIR - Imam Nizamettin Kaplan, underlining that the dead and the graveyards are untouchable, said that those who said 'The best Kurd is the dead Kurd' 20 years ago, now says that 'The best Kurd is the one without a grave'.

Attacks against graveyards continue in the cities like Hakkari, Van, Muş, Diyarbakır and Şırnak. Imam Nizamettin Kaplan evaluated these attacks that causes unrest in the society.

Stating that attacking graveyards is forbidden not only in Islam but in all religions, said that those who said 'The best Kurd is the dead Kurd' 20 years ago, now says that 'The best Kurd is the one without a grave'. Kaplan said: "Our prophet used to stand up whenever he saw a funeral out of respect. When his companion one day told him that the dead person was a Jew, our prophet said that it was a human being. Funerals and dead people must be respected regardless of who they were while they were alive. You have to bury your enemy after you're done fighting with them. The politicians says that the Kurds are their brothers and sisters during election periods. Now they are destroying their head stones. Burying people underneath the sidewalks. Attacking funerals, dead bodies..They need to see that all of these actions are forbidden in Islam."

"Our prophet says that the graveyards must be visited" said Kaplan who also told that the graveyards are sacred and untouchable. Kaplan made a call and said: "In the name of this holy month, enough is enough. Stop destroying the our sacreds.  Today we celebrate the feast of the entire Muslim world. May this holiday lead to peace."
