DİYARBAKIR - Süleyman Saçal, one of the prisoners who had been battered by the guards in Osmaniye No 2 Type T Closed Prison, stated that they will start a death fast if the guards don't stop torturing them.
On August 9, 57 prisoners in Osmaniye T Type Closed Prison No. 2 were beaten by guards under the supervision of the prison director. Niyazi Saçal, father of Süleyman Saçal, went to the prison to visit his son. Father Saçal stated that his son and other prisoners had signs of torture on their bodies and had difficulty walking.
Father Saçal who stated that the inhumane practices are reviving in prisoners, just like after Septemper 12 coup, called on to the society to take action against these practices.
Father Saçal who stated that the prisoners were subjected to torture on the way to the hospital, said: "My son was on hunger strike for 88 days. They didn't even give the prisoners a proper meal after they ended the hunger strike. Thep prisoners and their families demand an intervention to the prison administrations before something like September 12 occurs again. My son told me that they will start a death fast if this situation continues."
Saçal called for immediate action of the HRA and political parties against torture in prisons.
