MÛŞ - People in Mûş gathered around the Newroz fire regardless of the cold weather. DEM Party Group Deputy Cahirperson Gülistan Kılıç Koçyiğit said, "Let's deliver Mr Öcalan's road map to every house."

Newroz celebration was organised in Mûş with the slogans "Rêbertiya Azad Civaka Demokratîk (Free Leader, Democratic Society)" and "Democratic Society for Freedom". Station Area was decorated with Peoples' Equality and Democracy Party (DEM) Party flags. Citizens gathered in the area in the early hours despite the cold and rainy weather. Yellow, red and green flags were unfurled during the celebrations attended by thousands of people. It was noteworthy that young people and women were in the majority. The slogans "Bijî Serok Apo (Long live Leader Apo)", "Jin, jiyan, azadî (Woman, life, freedom)" and "Newroz pîroz be (Happy Newroz)" were frequently chanted.

Citizens danced for hours in the rainy weather. The programme started after a minute of silence in memory of those who lost their lives in the struggle for democracy and freedom. Mûş Municipality Co-mayor Sırrı Söylemez said, "This Newroz will be the democracy and social peace of the peoples of Turkey. We should all support and contribute to this process. Let's shout for peace more with a more organised struggle."

Co-mayor Tuba Sayılğan said, “The Kurdish people are closer to victory and peace this year than ever before. This is thanks to the struggle of our people and the determination and resolve of the children of the sun." Tuba Sayılğan also commemorated the murdered journalists Musa Anter, Gurbeteli Ersöz, Cihan Bilgin, Nazım Daştan and Aziz Köylüoğlu.

DEM Party Mûş MP Sümeyye Boz said, "The call from Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan is an important road map that will ensure peace for all peoples, races and societies. Our duty will be to increase our struggle, ensure our organisation and unity and build a democratic society."

DEM Party Group Deputy Chair Gülistan Kılıç Koçyiğit said, "We are behind and with the process developed by Mr Öcalan. We have infinite trust in him. We need to deliver the road map Mr Öcalan has put in front of us and his historic call to every home."

She also reacted to the detention of Ekrem İmamoğlu, the mayor of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality. “This is called a coup d'état, ignoring the Constitution. It is ignoring the will of the people. We never accept this,” she said.

After the speeches, the Newroz fire was lit. Thousands of people who filled the area danced with the songs performed by the artist Bêwar.
