Public meetings in 100 centres with the agenda of 'historic call'

ANKARA - DEM Party will draw up a road map under the title "Democratic politics of the new era" following the call of PKK Leader Abdullah Ocalan. The party will organise public meetings in at least 100 centres with the agenda of the call.

The historic call of PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan, delivered to the public on 27 February through the DEM Party İmralı Delegation, continues to be discussed. Regarding the text that opens the door to democratic politics in the solution of the Kurdish issue, DEM Party has also made plans for the socialisation of the call.
 
DEM Party, which came together with the component parties after the announcement of the call, decided on a 3-day meeting that will last for 3 days and in which all elected officials will take part. Following the meeting to be held during the day with the participation of the Party Assembly and provincial co-chairs, the Central Executive Committee will come together on Monday, 3 March.  The last meeting will be held on 4 March at the party headquarters with the participation of MPs and municipality co-chairs.
 
After the 3 meetings to be held, a road map for the "democratic politics of the new era" will be drawn up to ensure the active participation of the society in the process within the scope of the requirements of the call.
 
DEM Party will organise public meetings in many centres with the road map it will prepare. According to the information obtained, DEM Party Organisation Commission has completed its preparations for these public meetings. After the Party Assembly approves the draft, the public meetings will be started.
 
Under the title "People's Meetings for Peace and Democratic Society", public meetings will be organised in at least 100 centres across Turkey and Kurdistan between 9 and 15 March. DEM Party had organised "Social peace and freedom" meetings in 43 centres after the first meeting with Abdullah Öcalan.
 
In addition to the party members in the cities, all people and belief groups will participate in the meetings where criticisms and suggestions will be received.
 
COMPONENTS OF THE MEETING
 
Members of the İmralı delegation, Asrin Law Office lawyers, Co-Chairs and representatives of component parties, Peoples' Democratic Congress (HDK) Co-Speakers Meral Danış Beştaş and Ali Kenanoğlu, Democratic Regions Party (DBP) Co-Chairs Çiğdem Kılıçgün Uçar and Keskin Bayındır and DEM Party Co-Chairs Tülay Hatimoğulları will also take part in the meetings. In addition, members of the Executive Committee and Party Assembly members, MPs, representatives of the Free Woman Movement (Tevgera Jînen Azad-TJA) and other women's organisations, as well as the Association of Lawyers for Freedom (ÖHD) will also take part.
