NEWS CENTRE - KCK Executive Council Co-Chair Cemil Bayık announced that they received a letter from PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan. Drawing attention to the ongoing isolation in İmralı and criticising the attitude of the state, "If there is no change in the conditions of Rêber Apo, how can he make a call?" asked Cemil Bayik.

Cemil Bayik, Co-Chair of the KCK Executive Council, made important statements in the Special Programme broadcast on Stêrk TV. Cemil Bayik evaluated the historical move initiated by PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan, shared information about new developments and criticised the attitude of the state.

LETTER FROM ÖCALAN TO KCK

Cemil Bayik revealed to Stêrk TV for the first time that PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan sent a letter. Bayık emphasised that Abdullah Öcalan has been making great efforts for a democratic solution to the Kurdish issue for years. Underlining that Abdullah Öcalan wants to take the steps he has taken for a democratic solution to greater goals, Bayik said, "Rêber Apo wants to strengthen this move even more. It is carrying out an effort to take the Kurdish issue out of the ground of war and into the ground of democratisation."

Cemil Bayik stated that Abdullah Öcalan's messages have created great enthusiasm in the society and said that everyone should work to strengthen Abdullah Öcalan's hand in this process.

Bayık underlined that the responsibility in this process should not be left only to Abdullah Öcalan and added, "Everyone has already thrown their burden on Rêber Apo. This is a very heavy burden. Moreover, Rêber Apo wants to be the answer under İmralı conditions. He is trying to fulfil these wishes and hopes and is working for this. He has a heavy responsibility on his shoulders. Until now, Rêber Apo has never asked for or done anything for himself. Whatever he did, he did for the peoples and humanity. Because Rêber Apo does not live for himself; he lives for the peoples and humanity."

'CONDITIONS OF FREEDOM MUST BE PROVIDED'

Stressing to the ongoing isolation in İmralı and criticising the state's approach to the process Cemil Bayik underlined that Abdullah Öcalan's conditions of freedom must be ensured for the process to work.

Cemil Bayik added, "If Rêber Apo's conditions and circumstances are not changed, if he cannot work freely, how will these hopes be realised? How will he respond to the calls? This is not possible.”

'IMRALI ISOLATION SYSTEM MUST BE LIFTED'

Cemil Bayik stated that the isolation must be lifted as soon as possible and said, "Rêber Apo must be free. Everyone should aim for Rêber Apo's physical freedom and fight for it. If Rêber Apo is physically free, he can establish relations with the movement, he can establish relations with everyone, he can talk to them, he can receive their opinions and suggestions. If you want the war to end, then change Rêber Apo's conditions. You need to lift the İmralı system."
