SÊRT - Mothers who took part in the protests against the appointment of a trustee to Sêrt Municipality emphasised that the trustee practices must end for the solution of the Kurdish issue.

Yesterday, the Ministry of Interior appointed Governor Kemal Kızılkaya as trustee to Sêrt (Siirt) Municipality, which was under the administration of the Peoples' Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party). Kızılkaya arrived at the municipality building in the early hours of the morning with hundreds of police officers and posed in his office with the name tag he had prepared beforehand. Protests in front of the municipality building against the trustee decision continued throughout the day yesterday. Mothers participating in the trustee protest emphasised that they did not recognise the decision.

Kumru Kaçar, who took part in the resistance in front of the municipality, reacted, "Erdoğan (Tayyip Erdoğan) is committing injustice, persecution and massacre."

Pointing out that they did not accept the trustee decision, Kumru Kaçar said, "We will continue to resist and we will come in front of the municipality every day and say to the trustee, 'Thief, get out of our municipality.' I call to all the people; let's protect our municipality and our will here."

'WE WILL RESIST'

Stating that the trustees are "persecution", Ayşe Taşçı said, "On the one hand, they appoint trustees to the municipalities elected by the Kurds, and on the other hand, they throw themselves behind the Leader (Abdullah Öcalan) and demand steps for peace. We condemn these approaches. We want peace, not blood, war and death. We want peace in this country. We will resist these persecutions until the end."

Stating that the government appointed trustees to municipalities for rent, Fatma Yılmaz said, "They say that there are talks (İmralı talks) and that there is a solution. If so, there should be no trustees, deaths and wars. We do not believe the lies of this state. Everyone should come and protect their municipality."

Atike Erdoğan said, "We want our rights and law" and added, "What does this state want from us? We are also a party of this country. We have deputies in the parliament, we have municipalities. Let the whole world see the persecution against us. We will resist and we will not accept these policies. The municipality is our right. When the election comes, let them win at the ballot box. Why are they appointing trustees?"
