MÊRDÎN - During the ongoing vigil on the Nisêbîn-Qamishlo border, people reacted against the delegation waiting at the Habur Border Gate to receive the bodies of murdered journalists.
The ongoing vigil at the Qamishlo border in Nisêbîn (Nusaybin) district of Mêrdîn against the attacks on North and East Syria is on its 26th day. During the vigil in front of the border gate between Nisêbîn and Qamishlo, people reacted against the attacks of Turkey and the Syrian National Army (SNA).
REACTION TO OBSTRUCTION TO FUNERALS
During the vigil, banners with the photographs of journalists Cihan Bilgin and Nazım Bilgin, who were murdered in North and East Syria, were carried. Speaking at the statement, DEM Party Mêrdîn MP Saliha Aydeniz reacted against the murder of journalists. Saliha Aydeniz said, "Heval (Comrade) Cihan Bilgin and Nazım Daşdan were deliberately targeted. Our families have been kept waiting at the Habur Border Gate for two days. They are being kept waiting there very consciously. In fact, they are confessing their crimes with this. Because Cihan and Nazım were telling the public the truth. An international crime has been committed against journalists. They cannot hide this any longer."
Saliha Aydeniz demanded that the bodies be handed over to the families as soon as possible, "We know that you are afraid of the truth, but the truth will never remain in the dark. You have also been exposed. We do not accept your hostile approach. If you are really sincere, hand over the bodies to the families," she said.
Saliha Aydeniz continued, "The system built in Rojava is an example of a solution in the world. Therefore, the process should start with the recognition of the status there. The solution is the construction of democracy through dialogue. The government and the opposition need to see this chance. We will continue our vigil until the status of Rojava is not recognised. We will struggle for the recognition of the status of all Kurds. We will continue our struggle until we get results. The solution is the ideas developed by Mr Öcalan, peace, equal life."
After the statement, a sit-in protest was organized. During the protest, the delegation that wanted to go to the Federated Kurdistan Region to take the bodies of Cihan Bilgin and Nazım Daştan was kept waiting at the Habur Border Gate for more than 24 hours on the grounds that the X-ray machine was out of order.
"Free press is our honour", "Bîjî berxwedana Rojava (Long live resistance of Rojava)" and "Jin, jiyan, azadî (Woman, life, freedom)" slogans were chanted.
