DİYARBAKIR- Earthquake victims, who had to stay in schools and dormitories, are expelled by saying "your houses are undamaged" before any damage can be determined.

In Diyarbakır, earthquake victims who had to leave their homes and stay in schools and dormitories after the earthquake are left without shelter once again. Earthquake victims staying in schools and dormitories are removed from their places of residence by saying "your houses are undamaged" without any estimate the damage. The families, on the other hand, condemned: "How can they make such a decision without estimating the damage at home?"

Stating that the estimate the damage work was rushed, Hadi Tekel said: “Our building was badly damaged on the day of the earthquake, cracks occurred in its columns, inside and outside the building. Our building has 8 floors and 3 flats on each floor. There were cracks even inside the flats. Even though our building's column is already broken, the state still says 'undamaged' for our house. Those who have the economic power moved to other places but families with victims and dense population cannot move. We want the houses to be rechecked for estimate the damage.”

'WE STAY AT HOME WITHOUT ESTIMATING THE DAMAGE'

Yasemin Mirbey, who lives in Kaynartepe Neighborhood of Bağlar district, conveyed her experiences on the day of the earthquake and the aftermath as follows: We stayed there until morning, then we came home; however, when there was an earthquake once again, we went out again. After staying at school for 4 days, we came home once again. We couldn't stay at home because the earthquake shaking continued. We were staying in a classroom with 3 families at school. The school administration dismissed us and said, "Your houses are solid". No damage assessment has been done to our house yet. We don't know if our house is damaged or not. If only we had stayed at school until our house was checked."

'CRACKS ARE INCREASING EVERY DAY'

Nurhan Taş, who stated that his house was damaged in the earthquake and he had no place to stay, expressed his situation with the following words: "A special team came and looked at our building; however, the team from the Provincial Directorate of the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change said the opposite. The columns are all cracked and we are afraid to go inside. We go to hostels to stay. And they send us back, saying 'your house is not damaged'. Cracks in our house are increasing every day.”
