DİYARBAKIR - The police blockade of Piya and Ari production companies, which were raided as part of the operation against journalists in Diyarbakır, has been going on for 27 days.

As part of the operation against Kurdish journalists in Diyarbakır on June 8, police raided JinNews, Pel, Piya and Ari production companies. All digital materials of the agency and production companies were confiscated. Police left both offices after the search at JinNews and Pel Film Production companies was completed.

The police blockade continues at Piya and Ari production companies. The police waiting at the doors of both companies do not allow the employees to enter. On the other hand, the attorneys who applied on the subject were told that "the search continues" and that they would not be allowed to entry or exit of the companies.

BACKGROUND

22 people, including 20 journalists, who were detained on June 8 as part of the investigation carried out by the Diyarbakır Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, were referred to the Diyarbakır Courthouse on June 16. JINNEWS Manager Safiye Alağaş, DFG Co-chair Serdar Altan, MA Editor Aziz Oruç, Xwebûn Editor Mehmet Ali Ertaş, Zeynel Abidin Bulut, Ömer Çelik, Mazlum Doğan Güler, İbrahim Koyuncu, Neşe Toprak, Elif Üngür, Abdurrahman Öncü , Suat Doğuhan, Remziye Temel, Ramazan Geciken, Lezgin Akdeniz and Mehmet Şahin were arrested on charges of "being a member of a terrorist organization".

Journalists Gülşen Koçuk, Esmer Tunç, Mehmet Yalçın, Kadir Bayram, Feynaz Koçuk and İhsan Ergülen were released after judicial control. Many cameras, computers and digital materials belonging to journalists were also confiscated during the raids.
