The treatment of journalist-writer Huseyin Aykol, who suffered a brain haemorrhage at his home in Ankara on 14 October, continues in the intensive care unit of Sincan Training and Research Hospital. It was stated that Aykol developed an infection in his lungs during the treatment and while the treatment for this infection continues, there is an intense oedema in his lungs. 

 

Aykol's doctors noted that if the sedation medication given to him to be put to sleep is reduced, his blood pressure rises and therefore they cannot reduce these medications. Stating that Aykol's life is still at risk, the doctors said that they will continue to keep Aykol asleep until the oedema in his lungs decreases.

 

Visits to the hospital where Aykol is hospitalised continue. In addition to MPs, many intellectuals, journalists, human rights defenders and Aykol's loved ones continue to visit the hospital.
