DİYARBAKIR - Up to 30-year prison sentences issued for Kurdish politicians Gültan Kışanak and Sebahat Tuncel have been overturned.

Turkish Court of Appeals has overturned the prison sentences issued for DBP (Democratic Regions Party) Co-chair Sebahat Tuncel and former co-mayor of Amed (Diyarbakır) Metropolitan Municipality Gültan Kışanak.

Kışanak and Tuncel, who both have been imprisoned for over two years, had been sentenced on alleged charges of “founding and administering, and spreading propaganda for a terrorist organization”. Kışanak was thus sentenced to 14 years and 3 months, and Tuncel to 15 years.
