Iranian MP Ahmed Aryayinejad, who represents Malayer, insulted Jîna (Mahsa) Emînî, who was killed by Iran’s morality police, during a television program. His remarks drew backlash from members of the public and Jîna Emînî’s family after the footage was aired. Following calls for his resignation, Aryayinejad released a video apologizing for his remarks. 

 

Aryayinejad said: “In a recent television debate, while criticizing the statements and performance of former MP and current President Masoud Pezekshkian, I used an inappropriate expression about the late Mahsa Emînî. I apologize to her esteemed family and to those who have offered sincere criticism. Please accept my apology.”
