Case of missing Gülistan Doku: 10 suspects jailed, three released

DÊRSIM — Ten suspects have been remanded in custody and three released under judicial control measures as part of the investigation into the disappearance of Gülistan Doku.

The suspects were referred to the courthouse after completing their statements at the gendarmerie in the probe into the disappearance of Doku, a Munzur University student. Thirteen individuals whose statements were taken by prosecutors were then sent to court.
 
Former police officer Gökhan Ertok was arrested on charges of “Destruction, concealment, or alteration of evidence,” while Erdoğan Elaldı, a former provincial special administration employee, was jailed on suspicion of “Deliberate Killing.”
 
Munzur University camera operators Süleyman Önalan and Savaş Gültürk were also referred to the Tunceli Criminal Judgeship of Peace with a request for arrest, but were released under judicial control after giving their statements.
 
Other suspects — Celal Altaş, Nurşen Arıkan, Ferhat Güven and Cemile Yücer — were referred to court with a request for arrest, while Uğurcan Açıkgöz was referred with a request for judicial control measures, including regular reporting and a travel ban. The court ordered the arrest of Altaş, Arıkan, Güven, Cemile Yücer, Engin Yücer and Zainal Abakarov, while Açıkgöz was released under judicial control.
 
Şükrü Eroğlu, a close protection officer for former governor Tuncay Sonel, and Sonel’s son Mustafa Türkay Sonel were also arrested on charges of “Deliberate Killing.”
 
With the latest rulings, the number of suspects remanded in custody in the case has risen to 10.
 
Meanwhile, the detention procedures of former governor Tuncay Sonel and Çağdaş Özdemir, the former chief physician of Tunceli State Hospital, are ongoing.
