NEWS CENTER – Thousands of people took to the streets in several cities to protest attacks by Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) in Aleppo, declaring that “Rojava is conscience, resistance and freedom, and cannot be subdued.”
Demonstrations were held in a number of cities in response to HTS attacks targeting the Şêxmeqsûd (Sheikh Maqsoud) and Eşrefiyê (Ashrafieh) neighborhoods of Aleppo.
Large crowds gathered in the cities of Mêrdîn (Mardin), Sêrt (Siirt) and Êlih (Batman), marching while chanting slogans such as “Bijî berxwedana Rojava (Long live the resistance of Rojava),” “Bijî berxwedana Şêxmeqsûd (Long live the resistance of Sheikh Maqsoud),” “Kurdistan will be the grave of fascism,” and “Bijî Serok Apo (Long live Leader Apo).”
Speakers at the demonstrations emphasized that the Kurdish resistance is being waged not only for Kurds but for peoples around the world. The statements described the attacks as a clear violation of the right to life and condemned them, noting that women have been specifically targeted in the assaults.
