Call for investigation of chemical weapons to the UN: Establish a commission for Turkey as well

ANKARA - Stating that they made a request to the UN regarding the chemical weapons used by Turkey, Germany Left Party MP Gokay Akbulut said, "We want a commission to be established on Turkey's use of chemical weapons in Kurdistan."
While the attacks on the Federated Kurdistan Region and security policies in domestic politics continue, the AKP-MHP government is negotiating with Finland and Sweden about NATO membership over the Kurds. Germany is seen as the most important partner of the government in the ongoing policies. Left Party (Die Linke) MP Gökay Akbulut in the German Bundestag has spoken to the Mesopotamia Agency (MA) regarding Turkey's continued attacks on the Kurdistan Federal District, Turkey-KDP relations and the attitude of Germany and the United Nations (UN).
Noting that they made a request to the UN regarding the chemical weapons used by Turkey, Akbulut said, “We demand the establishment of an Investigation Commission at the UN on war crimes. We requested this from Germany. For example, Germany has created very new mechanisms regarding Ukraine. They will set up a new commission on war crimes in Ukraine. We want the same commission to be established on Turkey's use of chemical weapons in Kurdistan. This work can be in the form of a commission that can be jointly run by international powers. As in the past, Turkey is violating international law. We expect some sanctions to be imposed on Turkey in the coming weeks."
Saying that the PKK's activities should not be banned in European countries, Akbulut emphasized that Germany has a very important role in the PKK's inclusion on the terror  list. Remainding Dr. Peer Stolle and Dr. Lukas Thune's application for the lifting of the PKK ban in Germany, Akbulut said, "We will support this application at the level of the Parliament in the coming days. The application will be directed to the Ministry of Interior and will be considered in the upcoming Interior Commission process. There is no response from the Ministry regarding the application at the moment."
