The Supreme Court asked for acquittal in Cumhuriyet newspaper case

İSTANBUL - Supreme Court of Appeals Prosecutor's Office completed his opinion on the case of Cumhuriyet newspaper. The prosecutor wanted the reversal of the decisions and the writers to be acquitted.

 
The Chief Public Prosecutor of the Supreme Court of Appeals completed the communiqué on the case of Cumhuriyet newspaper writers. Prosecutor's Office requested the reversal of decisions and acquittals of Deputy Chairperson of the Republic Foundation Akın Atalay, Chairperson Orhan Erinç, Editor-in-Chief Murat Sabuncu, Member of the Board and writer Hikmet Çetinkaya and writer Aydin Engin. 
 
The Chief Public Prosecutor of the Supreme Court of Appeals also provided an important opinion about the other administrators and writers of the Cumhuriyet newspaper whose sentence was finalized in appeal and some of which are still in prison. Prosecutor's Office requested the reversal of decision for Kadri Gursel, Bulent Utku, Musa Card, Hakan Karasinir, Mustafa Kemal Gungor, Leader Celik and Guray Öz. 
 
 
Chief prosecutor's office requested the approval of the 3 years 1 month and 15 days sentence of Yunus emre İper and 10 years sentence of Ahmet Kemal Aydoğdu.
 
 
The Prosecutor's Office also stated that HDP Istanbul Deputy Ahmet Şık's sentence of 7 years and 6 months' imprisonment for alleged aiding and ebedding the organization to be reversed and Şık to be tried for propaganda and public humiliation of the institutions and organs of the state.
