Alleged death threat from prison guards

	İSTANBUL - Family of Müslüm Gönül who states that he had been battered by the guards in Silivri No 2 Type L Closed Prison, said they can not recieve any information from the authorities. 

	 

	On 22 July 2019, the prisoner Müslüm Gönül's family, who was allegedly beaten by the guard, held a press conference at the Istanbul Branch of the Human Rights Association (IHD). His wife Elif Gönül and mother Badegül Gönül attended with their attorney.

	 

	Lawyer Fırat Vural, who stated that they applied to the prison directorate and the General Directorate of Prisons and Detention Houses regarding the allegations of assault and torture, said he did not receive any response. 

	 

	Elif Gönül said: "My husband was threatened with death by the guards. Therefore I am very worried for my him. This inhuman practices should be terminated immediately." 

	 

	Badegül Gönül who stated that the torture still continues and said: "We are subjected to inhumane searches every time we go there for visits. Silivri have become a concentration camp." Gönül stated that the Minister of Justice will be the one to hold responsible if anything happens to his son."
