Barış Çakan statement from Governor's Office 2020-06-01 13:09:40 ANKARA - The Governorship of Ankara made a statement regarding the death of Barış Çakan, who was stabbed to death last night while he was listening to Kurdish music.   The Governorship of Ankara made a statement regarding the killing of Barış Çakan (20) at 22.30 in the Alsancak District of the Etimesgut. The statement refuted the statement made by the family initially and it was stated that an investigation have been launched by Public Prosecutor's Office.   The statement of the Governor's Office is as follows:    "This announcement has been regarded as necessary after investigating the claims spreading around social media, which are intentional and wrong regarding the incident on 31.05.2020 Sunday evening in which a man was stabbed to death.   The incident happened after the victim and his friends had warned the suspected opposite party as the suspected party was listening to loud music in their car during the Azan prayer, vice versa to the claims that the victim and his friends were interefered by the suspected opposite party while listening to Kurdish music.   The friend of the victim, B.A. stated the incident happened in this manner in the first statement he gave.   On the other hand the suspects were taken into custody immediately after the incident and the legal process is pursued in detail by the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.   It is clear that using the matter as a tool for provocation as it is tried to be diverted is far from goodwill."
