Özbudun: Outbreak played a catalyst role 2020-05-30 11:37:37   İSTANBUL - Academician-writer Sibel Özbudun, who said that the Kovid-19 outbreak played a role as a catalyst in revealing some of the negativities of capitalism, pointed to two different trends that strengthened with this situation.   The collapse of health systems in the countries with the coronavirus pandemic has led to a worldwide system questioning. Left circles took the lead in questioning the system.  In the countries such as Italy and France, which the epidemic hit the hardest, neo fascism and racism increased.  The far-right leaders of these countries argue that they are left alone in the pandemic process, discussing leaving the European Union and uniting themselves. On the other hand, left-socialists, including Noam Chomsky and Ertuğrul Kürkçü, came together under the name “Progressive International”. Different scenarios are put forward in discussions about how the world will take shape after the pandemic.   Academician-writer Sibel Özbudun evaluated the emergence of neo-fascism and the possibilities of the international with the epidemic.   Özbudun stated that the complaints of countries like Italy and Spain about being left alone is more related to the weakness of EU than it is about the pandemic. Stating that the EU countries are in a hierarchical relation rather than an egalitarian relation, said: "This project which started as a 'union of iron and steel', has attempted to turn into a US-like 'federative focus, a political union, over time. . However, the unification of economies of different powers could not lead to a united economic-political self.  It was evident that the components would be dispersed during the first crisis, as a matter of fact, it already had with Brexit. Now all components of EU are trying to save themselves.   Özbudun who drew attention to the discussions on the post-epidemic period and pointed out that two trends emerged in this regard said: "The Kovid-19 outbreak played a role as a catalyst in the unfolding of some of the negativities of capitalism before the masses or it will lead to more authoritarian, more monopolist regimes where surveillance over the masses will increase due to the pandemic. Özbudun, who thinks that the outbreak that will bring both possibilities to the agenda will not be decisive in this, said the path to be followed will be determined by the organized struggle of the masses.
