12 women activists remanded under custody 2020-05-24 08:16:43 DİYARBAKIR - 12 of the 18 people detained within the scope of the investigation launched by the Diyarbakır Chief Public Prosecutor's Office were arrested on charges of "being a member of the organization". As part of the investigation launched by the Diyarbakır Chief Public Prosecutor's Office against the Rosa Women's Association, on May 22, 18 people, including association managers and Kurdish politicians, were detained. The detainees were sent to the courthouse yesterday after being held for one day at the Diyarbakır Police Headquarters. 14 people were referred to the court with the request of arrest and 4 with the request of release by judicial control measure.   12 PEOPLE WAS ARRESTED   Following their statements at the prosecutor's office, Free Women's Movement (TJA) activist Zelal Bilgin, Rosa Women's Association Founder member Ayla Akat Ata, Yenişehir Municipality Council Member Nevriye Çur, Nazire Tursun and Bağlar Municipality Council member Hüseyin Harman was released with judicial control measures. Havva Kıran was released on the condition of House arrest.   On the other hand, Rosa Women's Association President Adalet Kaya, founding member Narin Gezgör and association manager Fatma Gültekin, Free Women's Movement (TJA) activists Gülcihan Şimşek, Democratic Regions Party (DBP) former Co-Chair Mehmet Arslan, HDP Central Executive Committee (MYK) member Özlem Gündüz HDP Yenişehir District Co-chair Remziye Sızıcı, Bağlar Municipality council members Gönül Aslan and Veysi Kuzu, Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality Council member Sevim Coşkun, HDP member Mehmet Ali Altınkaynak, DBP PM member Celal Yoldaş were arrested.   The 12 people were arrested for alleged 'membership of an illegal organization', for participating in protests and activities such as rallies, press releases, sit in protests, hunger strikes.
