"He was a happy young man. We saw bruises on his body," the family said.   17-year-old Ali Erdoğan, who had been detained for two months in Şakran Children's Closed Prison, allegedly committed suicide in the ward he was held on 4 April. Erdogan's cousin, Abdulkadir Erdoğan, was told by the prison administration that the incident took place around 7 pm.   Abdulkadir Erdoğan said that his cousin may have been forced to commit suicide or may have committed suicide due to the pressure of the guards. "He went to prison 2 months ago. We knew he would get out with the law of execution to be passed. That's why he was very happy. He was a very positive person. We didn't understand how he could have decided to commit suicide. The prison psychologist told us that he was a very happy person, that his psychology was very good, that he was not a suicidal person."   Stating that the remainsl of Ali Erdoğan are kept in the morgue of Izmir Forensic Medicine Institute, Abdulkadir Erdoğan stated that a coronavirus (Kovid-19) test will be performed there. "When we saw Ali in the morgue, there were bruises on his body. We asked about them. What happened to Ali, why he died, we do not know anything. The prison administration does tell us anything. They did not give us the body yet, we are waiting for the test result. We have been living with our pain for days." Erdoğan's family applied to the Izmir Branch of the Human Rights Association (IHD).
