Coronavirus claims prisoner's life 2020-04-08 11:30:33 ANKARA - 70 year old Mehmet Yeter who has been in Samsun Bafra Prison for 3 years, has lost his life due to coronavirus last week. More than 300 thousand people's lives are threatened by coronavirus in prisons. While the law proposal on the execution, prepared by AKP and MHP is being discussed at the parliament, a prisoner lost his life in prison due to coronavirus.   According to Cumhuriyet Newspaper; Mehmet Yeter (70) have lost his life because of coronavirus last week. It was learned that Yeter, who had diabetes, was taken to the 19 Mayıs Medical Faculty Hospital on 16 March and his left leg was cut on 23 March due to health problems. He was discharged from the hospital on March 26 and sent to prison this time. Mehmet Yeter, who got worse in prison was brought back to the hospital where he lost his life.   Yeter, whose family couldn't have been found, was buried by the Cemetery Directorate teams urgently.   Mehmet Yeter's son Ferhat Yeter, stating that the prison did not inform him on his father's death, said: "They buried my father without notifying us even though 5 days have passed since his death. I learned about my father's death from another prisoner who called me."
