Attorneys of former Peoples' Democratic Party Co-Chair Selahattin Demirtaş applied for his release, drawing attention to his heath status. Cahit Kırkazak, one of Demirtaş's lawyers, applied to the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office to be sent to the Ankara Criminal Court of Peace on duty.   The lawyers' statement regarding the issue is as follows: “As it is known, Minister of Health Fahrettin Koca made a comprehensive statement on Wednesday, 1 April. In this statement, he shared several data on the corona virus outbreak. Some of the data states that 63 percent of the people diagnosed with coronavirus trying to survive in the ICU and 69 percent of the people who lost their lives due to the coronavirus are hypertensive patients.   Our client Selahattin Demirtaş was diagnosed with hypertension at Trakya University Medical Faculty Hospital. Demirtaş, who previously had surgery due to respiratory and heart diseases, continues to suffer from these diseases and uses various medications for them. Demirtaş is in the vital risk group explained by Minister Koca. For this reason, an application for his release was filed yesterday (April 2, Thursday) in order to remove the decision for his detention in the investigation file, which has been ongoing for 6 years and he is not even a suspect."
