Prisoners worried, precautions against pandemic not taken in prisons 2020-03-29 17:15:05   MERSİN- Prisoners staying in Tarsus T Type 2 Closed Prison stated that they are worried because of the necessary precautions against the coronavirus outbreak are not taken in prisons.   Hadi Elçiçek (51), a cardiac patient who is imprisoned in T Type No.2  Closed Prison in Mersin Tarsus, reported the violations of rights in the prison to his son Serkan Elçiçek at the weekly phone call. Stating that the prison administration did not take any precautions against the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, Elçiçek said that there is not enough hygiene and cleaning materials as well as not enough food o support their immune system.   Elçiçek stated the problems they experienced as follows: "There is no hot water. The necessary disinfection measures have not been taken in the prison wards. The soldiers and the guards do not care about their personal hygiene as well. We are not taken to any hospital because of the coronavirus".    Stating that in case the pandemic spreads throughout the prisons, prisoner Elçiçek, this would cause a major dawnfall, he raised the demand that all prisoners and convicts should be released without any discrimination.
