Objection to Gezi decision from the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor 2020-02-18 20:36:06 İSTANBUL- İstanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office presented a petition to the court and stated that they would object the decision after the announcement of the reasoned Gezi decision, which gives acquital to 9 defendants. İstanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office submitted a petition to the court for the Gezi trial decision, in which 9 defendants were acquitted, and noted that they would appeal the decision after the reasoned decision was announced. The trial of 16 defendants on Gezi resistance was concluded with th decision of acquital on behalf of 9 defendants, along with Osman Kavala, who has been detained for 840 days and Mücella Yapıcı, Yiğit Aksakoğlu, Can Atalay, Çiğdem Mater Utku, Mine Özerden and Tayfun Kahraman. The search warrant of the suspects abroad was also cancelled by the court decision. The chief prosecutor noted in the petition he presented in the court that he would appeal against acquittal decisions after the reasoned decision was announced.
