Acquittal to all defendants in Gezi Trial 2020-02-18 19:12:17 ISTANBUL- In the Gezi Trial, together with Osman Kavala, who has been imprisoned for 840 days, Mücella Yapici, Yiğit Aksakoğlu, Can Atalay, Çiğdem Mater Utku, Mine Özerden and Tayfun Kahraman were acquitted. The search warrant of the suspects abroad was abolished. Kavala is expected to be released from prison. The 6th hearing of the Gezi trial have continued afternoon with the defences of the defendants. TENSION IN THE TRIAL HALL Following the defendants' speeches, lawyers of the Ministry of the Interior and the Ministry of Treasury spoke. Lawyers demanded the defendants to be sentenced. The court, who called Osman Kavala to the stand after the defenses, asked if he had the last word. Kavala said that he will speak after all the defendants speak. Intervention attorney Can Atalay said that the attitude of the court was extremely political. THE DELEGATION WENT OUT OF THE HALL GENDARMERY WENT IN There was a debate between the lawyers and the court. Lawyers stated that they were not given the right to speak and reacted to the attitude of the court. The head of the court then decided to take the lawyers out of the hall. Audience in the hall protested this decision of the delegation with applause. Thereupon, the audience was also decided to be taken out. When the audience wanted to be taken out of the hall with the gendarmerie, the audience resisted not to leave. Gendarmerie tried to force the lawyer Özgür Karaduman to leave the hall, but the tension has increased. Gendarme teams in robocop uniforms entered in and surrounded the lawyers. The tention, which took a while has ended finally and the lawyers and the audience were taken back in the trial hall.
